Review:

We found this veg eatery on Google map when we are checking out Obean for this trip. It is really easy to pinpoint and let the cab driver bring us here! It is just within walking distance from Obean and another veg eatery which is just a few units beside it.

It has a classic and simple style of eatery which gives the homely feel.

Simple interior design with few sets of tables & chairs for the customers to have their meal and chit chat. We also noticed that they served traditional coffee & tea, making me crave for a cup of Yuan Yang (鸳鸯). However, it seems like the locals in Batam does not know/drink Yuan Yang even though I did try to explain what it is.
(Yuan Yang (鸳鸯) is a drink which consists the mixture of Coffee & Tea)

Aunty gave me the doubting look and asked if I am serious or joking. But she is kind enough to make a cup of Yuan Yang for me! ❤
(Aunty managed to prepare a cup of Yuan Yang O Kosong which did help to wake me up too)

They also sell simple snacks other than the dishes on the menu, but we never make any purchase due to the limitation of our tummy. We are really quite full!

The aunty seemed to figure out that we do not understand the language and slowly explained the menu to us. ❤
There are quite a lot of dishes on the menu which I can’t really remember which is which now. I only remembered that we ordered the locals’ food, Gado-Gado!

Gado – Gado, 12000 rp
It is a local dish in Batam which is quite common in local eateries which are also known as “lotek“. An Indonesia salad of slightly boiled and steamed vegetables, boiled potato, tempeh and lotong (rice wrapped in banana leaf), served with a peanut sauce dressing.

According to my friend who tried Gado – Gado elsewhere in Indonesia, this tasted much better! The generous serving of ingredients especially the lotong and the peanut sauce dressing.

Next time we will come back to try few more dishes and will update the review here again!
